TILE CARE AND MAINTENANCE

TILE CARE AND MAINTENANCE

IT'S EASIER THAN YOU THINK

Glazed tile products should be cleaned routinely with any all-purpose, low VOC household or commercial cleaner. The entire area should be cleaned and scrubbed with cleaning solution using a cotton mop, sponge, cloth, or nylon brush. Rinse with clean water and take care not to leave any cleaning solution residue. Routine cleaner should never contain acids or ammonia. Routine cleaning of glass tile should be done using any non-abrasive cleaning compound recommended for either glass or tile.

STONE CLEANERS

Cleaning natural stone should only be done using specifically designed cleaners. These cleaners contain no acids and have a neutral pH. Even a light solution of vinegar and water will eventually etch, discolor, or damage natural stone. Natural stone cleaners are designed to be gentle on existing sealers and wax coatings.

HEAVY-DUTY STONE CLEANING

Use a heavy-duty non-hazardous stone cleaner and degreaser to effectively remove dirt, grease, grime, waxes and floor finishes. A good heavy-duty cleaner will contain low percentages of volatile organic compounds. These products are often concentrated and specifically designed to deep clean natural stone without damaging it.

GROUT MAINTENANCE

Neither sealing the grout nor using a 100% epoxy grout will guarantee against surface build-up or discoloration. Periodic cleanings are required to remove any surface build-up. Routine grout cleaning should be done with a concentrated neutral pH household or commercial cleaner depending on the application. Professional strength tile and grout cleaners are also available when heavy duty grout cleaning is required. These professional strength cleaners are capable of removing grease, soap scum, mildew stains, body oil, acrylic waxes, and algae from the grout joints.
